  New Mexico Attorneys / Certified Specialists -
 


       
If two asterisks ** are located after the New Mexico attorneys name, then he/she is a "Certified Specialist" in bankruptcy law in the State of New Mexico.

       The New Mexico Board of Legal Specialization has a Certified Specialist program very similar to the American Board of Certification (Bankruptcy Specialist). In fact, some attorneys (e.g., Daniel J. Behles) are certified in both programs. Attorneys who pass this program are certified in consumer and/or business bankruptcy law.

Who are Certified?

       As of recently, five attorneys have passed and are certified under the State of Mexico Supreme Court in consumer and/or business bankruptcy law. They are the following;

Requirements

       In order for an attorney to be certified, a number of minimum requirements need to be completed. Some of the requirements include the following;

  • The attorney has been licensed to practice law for at least five years.
  • He/she has practiced a required percentage of the specialty area (consumer or business bankruptcy) for at least three years.
  • He/she Has continuously attended legal education seminars in their area of proposed specialty.
  • The attorney has demonstrated experience and involvement in the area of specialty.
  • The attorney has been evaluated by his/her peers (fellow attorneys and judges).
  • Submit a $350 fee and a completed application is necessary to start the certification process
