About Charleston

       Charleston (one of three United States bankruptcy courts located in South Carolina) is the county seat of Charleston County. It is approximately 114 miles (driving distance) from Columbia (state capital and location of the main office and courthouse of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court / District of Columbia). Cities and towns near Charleston include Summerville, Sullivan's Island, Goose Creek, Moncks Courner, Isle of Palms, and North Charleston.

The Court

       The United States Bankruptcy Court in Charleston serves 12 counties. They include the counties of Allendale, Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper and Williamsburg. The court is located at 145 King Street, Room 225, Charleston, SC 29401. The Charleston Court is for bankruptcy hearings only. Specialists
