Certified Bankruptcy Specialist - Requirements
In order to qualify as a State Certified Specialist
in Bankruptcy, a number of minimum requirements are necessary. They
include - Required Period of Practice in Law - Applicant must For a period of five (5) years on a full-time basis, have been engaged in the practice of law. - Involvement in the Bankruptcy Law - An Attorney who applies, must practice as well as have a substantial involvement and competency in the field of bankruptcy five years preceding application. - CLE (Continuing Legal Education) - Applicant must have no less than 60 hours of continuing legal education credit in the subject of bankruptcy. The classes or courses may be communicated via video-conference, video, online and/or seminars. Some of the courses available include; Consumer and Small Business Bankruptcy, Ethics in Bankruptcy, The Means Test 101, The Impact of Bankruptcy on Collection, Deceptive Lending Practices: Violations and Fraud. - Testing - An applicant must pass a written examination and oral interview.

The American Board of Certification The American Board of Certification (ABC) also has a Bankruptcy Specialist program where three areas of certification in the field of bankruptcy are awarded.
